I was luck enough to pattern test the new pattern from French Navy, the Calyer Pants.
These pants are great! There is a flat front option and a pleated front option. The pockets are beautifully drafted and the semi elastic waist with flat front adds sophpistication to these casual pants. They come with a slight dropped crutch and sides seams that end at the centre front which give these pants a great shape.
I made size M in the wonderful Cotton + Steel 100% premium cotton, Bon Voyage.
I took my pants up on the pattern by 6cm. It is suggested to take them up before you make them as the twist in the side seam can make it difficult to adjust after sewing.
This gave my Calyer pants a perfect crop finish. Using a drapery or heavier fabric I would probably only shorten them by 3cm or so.
The Cotton + Steel fabric I chose totally suits these pants and make me feel happy holiday vibes!
These pants are totally awesome and versatile. Making them in a bold print gives them a casual holiday feel but making them in a plainer fabric with more drape would no doubt be a wonderful pair of pants for everyday wear - work or play!
